Pattie Beerens, Australian Ceramics Triennale
 2022

Pattie Beerens creates unconventional woven landscapes that merge with nature organically. Her practice is simple and respectful towards the land she is encountering. She asks permission from the TO of the Indigenous Country before intervening. She is always careful and tries to learn cultural protocols, even if her visit is short.
Suspension, tension, deep listening, free form, and rhythm are the foundation of her light sculptures that can grow fast and develop multidimensional spaces.

Weaving with clay allowed me to explore sculpture again without leaving my textile passion aside.
I appreciate Pattie's sincere openness to collaboration, where she holds the space simultaneously, giving you the freedom to play and to have your own experience. No judging. No right or wrong.
Pattie is ready to receive what a new place can offer her, being aware and in connection with nature, grateful to whatever encounters her (organic materials, people, ideas, new challenges).
Thanks, Pattie. What a great experience working with you at the Australian Ceramics Triennale 2022.
