In 2020 I realised that part of my path as an artist was to work collectively.
The pandemic accentuated this feeling of isolation, and I decided to convene a group of artists to feel more connected. Sur_Sur was born at the beginning of 2021. The dynamic is organic, and we are growing and expanding in different directions and with various alliances.
Our online meetings include discussions of one or several projects underway, where we nurture each other, support each other technically and emotionally, and feel understood, listened to, and connected with other artists. It gives us the feeling of being and belonging.
We discuss various topics from ancestry, motherhood, environmentalism, feminism, limiting factors of our practice, natural fibres, plants, fungi, hybrid processes, technology, and numerous other topics.
